Competitors from across the country claimed victories in the long jump and 200-metre sprint events at the New Bud Sports competition. The outstanding performances of young athletes in both events, held at the National Stadium in Paltan on Sunday, added further excitement and energy to the New Bud Sports programme.
In the boys’ 200-metre sprint, Mohammad Aman of Rajshahi claimed first place with a time of 23.87 seconds. Jawad Quader of Chittagong finished second in 23.90 seconds, while Mahadi Mohammad of Barisal took third place with a time of 24.90 seconds.
In the women’s 200-metre sprint, Maria won the gold with a time of 28.99 seconds. Adhara Oishi of Khulna finished second in 29.16 seconds, and Rafia Akhter of Mymensingh took third place with a time of 29.85 seconds.
In the women’s long jump, Ima Khanam of the Faridpur region claimed first place with a jump of 4.62 metres. Eva of Khulna finished second with a jump of 4.46 metres, while Tasfia Tuba of the Rangpur region took third place with a jump of 4.28 metres.
In the boys’ long jump, Ahatab Noor of the Rangpur region won the title with a jump of 6.19 metres. Ikram of Rajshahi finished second with a jump of 6.17 metres, and Nahid Hossain of Comilla took third place with a jump of 5.98 metres.
