The SAFF Championship is returning to Bangladesh after an eight-year absence. The battle for South Asian football supremacy will be held at the National Stadium in Paltan from November 4 to November 17. Ahead of the tournament, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) intends to make use of the September and October international windows for preparation, with plans to organise four friendly matches for the national team during this period.
Of these four matches, two to three are likely to be played in Kyrgyzstan. The Kyrgyzstan Football Union has recently extended an invitation to Bangladesh to participate in a tri-nation football series to be held there during the September-October window. BFF President Tabith Awal confirmed the development to a prominent national newspaper on Sunday, saying, “We have received an invitation from Kyrgyzstan, though it is still unofficial at this stage.”
The BFF president had previously announced that the Bangladesh national team would hold a ten-day preparation camp ahead of the FIFA September-October international window, with the camp scheduled to begin on September 21.
Bangladesh had previously accepted a similar invitation from Kyrgyzstan for a tri-nation series in 2021. On that occasion, they lost 2-0 to Palestine and 4-1 to hosts Kyrgyzstan.
