Bayern Munich have moved to shut down speculation surrounding Michael Olise’s potential move to Real Madrid, with the German club’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, making clear that they have no plans to sell the French winger.
Bayern Munich took the field in a pre-season friendly on Saturday night, losing the match 2-1.
Speaking to the media afterward, Freund said, “We are not entertaining the rumors about Olise going to Real Madrid at all. We’re waiting for Michael to return from his vacation. Just like last season, he will play an important role for Bayern this season.”
Real Madrid have been linked with interest in signing Olise for some time during the summer transfer window, with reports suggesting the club could be prepared to offer a substantial fee. However, Bayern’s firm stance means Real remain unable to sign the player, at least for now.
Olise joined Bayern from Crystal Palace in 2024 for a transfer fee of around €53 million. He has significantly increased his value through excellent performances over the past two seasons, contributing heavily to Bayern’s attack in all competitions last season. The French star also impressed at the recently concluded FIFA World Cup, leading the tournament in assists.
Olise has a contract with Bayern running until June 2029, and the club regards the 24-year-old winger as a key part of its future plans. Freund reiterated that Olise will play a central role for Bayern in the 2026-27 season under coach Vincent Kompany.
